Jeff Bezos<\/strong>‘ empire launches itself into the world of telephony. Suffice it to say that the Italian Ministry of Economic Development has given
\n Amazon<\/strong>
\n<\/a> permission to operate as a provider of electronic communication<\/strong> services for a publicly accessible telephone system:
\n Amazon Connect<\/strong>
\n<\/a>.
But let’s take a closer look at what it is and what the problems could be for the traditional telephony operators currently operating in Italy.
According to what has been noted by
\n Agcom<\/strong>
\n<\/a>, the Communications Authority, Amazon Connect will allow Italian users to make and receive calls using numbers in our country using the network of traditional operators. It would therefore be a real telephone company with its own network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

And the competition trembles. According to traditional telephony operators, there would be a real risk of soon seeing aggressive offers arrive on the market which, most likely, will combine fast parcel deliveries, new film proposals and connection subscriptions. All in partnership with Fincantieri<\/strong>. The matter is monitored by Agcom, which knows the Amazon galaxy well.
In short, the empire created by Jeff Bezos seems to know no limits. In addition to e-commerce, Cloud<\/strong> services and video on demand with Amazon Prime Video<\/strong> there is much more. For example, the commitment to the film industry with the recent formalization of the purchase of the “Metro Goldwyn Mayer”<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a> or space tourism with “Blue Origin”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In short, there is nothing to make us think that the goal of creating Amazon Connect is not real. And the numbers confirm it: in the first quarter of 2021 the group recorded a <\/span>sales boom of 44% and profit increase of 220%<\/b>. And that’s not all. About two hundred million people have subscribed to the Prime<\/strong> circuit. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Amazon Web Services<\/strong> <\/a>totaled 13.5 billion in sales in the quarter with a boom of 32%.<\/strong> AWS<\/strong> is also growing rapidly in Italy, investing hundreds of millions in data centers in Milan<\/strong> and announcing an agreement with Fincantieri<\/strong> “to accelerate digital innovation and technological development in the country”.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Over the past 15 years, Amazon Web Services has become a $54 billion per year revenue business at increasing rates competing with the largest technology companies on the planet and its growth is accelerating,”<\/em> Bezos<\/strong> explained at the presentation of the first quarterly report of 2021.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the founder of Amazon is preparing to be a tourist by announcing on Instagram his decision to leave on the New Shepard<\/strong><\/a> for his first tourist trip to space<\/strong>.
